Hello
Multinational packaging suppliers headline this newsletter with Tetra Pak’s inauguration of their new plant in Pakistan and Essel Propack consolidating its European operations. The South Asian and world packaging industry is gearing up for interpack in Dusseldorf in mid-May. An increase of visitors and exhibitors from South Asia is expected at the triennial event, with over 80 exhibitors from India alone.
Packaging South Asia will cover the event again in full force and if you would like to share information about what you are showing with the readers of our March-April issue going to press on 25 March, please email it to us immediately. We will be available at the show in the press center and copies of PSA will be available at the international press stand. Heidelberg will again show its Linoprint systems at interpack 2011 while Duo Plast will show its special stretch films with extra edge thickness. The fair will use up all 19 halls of the Dusseldorf Messe.
There is great agitation in the flexible packaging industry in India over the government’s ban on plastic sachets for chewing tobacco. In this newsletter we write about an additive masterbatch that can address some of the issues of plastic carrier bags littering the countryside and perhaps other packaging polymers as well.
PSA online reaches 3,800 packaging professionals in South Asia while IPP online reaches another 6,000.
