In an important move to ensure the authenticity of exports of medicines from India, the government has asked for bar coding on all packs meant for exports from July 1.

The commerce ministry’s stipulation is aimed attracing and tracking medicines to their source of origin. It comes in the wake of complaints made against Indian drugs by some African countries.
