Generation of waste in the flexible packaging industry is a natural outcome of the production process at various stages such as start up, slitting, reel change over and converting and finishing and is said to approximate 5 per cent of the total plant capacity in terms of materials. Since the generation of such waste cannot be technologically avoided it poses a great challenge to the industry and especially for laminates.Since recycling waste is not always possible except for mono layer films, waste disposal is a serious issue. In addition, disposing waste properly is not cheap since it is not biodegradable.
