On the morning of 22 March 2011, Wells Plastics based in the UK together with its distributors organised a discussion of their masterbatch additive products that can impart oxo-biodegradable characteristics to various packaging films and other plastic materials. About 1% of ‘reverte’ additive masterbatch makes polymers such as polythene and polypropylene biodegradable when exposed to water and sunlight. The additional expense involved is fairly subjective, but if one understood the discussion correctly, the use of Reverte additive could increase the costs of polymer raw materials by anywhere from 3 to 10%. ...cont´d
