GMG announced the release of version 5.1 of its award-winning proofing software GMG ColorProof. The upgrade incorporates the company's support to all relevant proofing printers currently available in the market. The same functionality is implemented in the halftone proofing software GMG DotProof and GMG FlexoProof applicable for packaging proof applications.

Version 5.1 is compatible with Microsoft's Windows 7 and supports 64-bit computing, providing both 32-bit and 64-bit software. Recently, GMG has developed the printer driver for the Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 printer achieving optimal colour accuracy and repeatability. Drivers for other printers are to follow in the near future.
Several new technical features and performance improvements have been implemented in GMG ColorProof 5.1 providing high production reliability and colour accuracy. Among others, the advanced printing of history jobs, the improved automatic nesting for saving media and time and the possibility of defining custom settings as default for jobs enable faster creation of manual jobs. Furthermore, a major overhaul of the gamut mapping algorithm guarantees best photo reproduction and new GMG ProofStandards are available out of the box for high quality proofing as well as new PSR profiles.
Germany-based colour management software developer GMG was established in 1984 and has its own distribution network in Asia, Europe and the Americas. It has sold more than 10,000 systems across the industry spectrum from ad agencies, prepress houses and offset printers to newspapers, flexo converters and gravure printing plants. Besides being one of the most used systems for calibrating inkjet proofing engines, GMG ColorProof has become the de-facto standard of Europe's gravure printing industry. GMG FlexoProof is a product specifically tailored to the needs of the packaging industry and includes a complete Pantone spot color library. GMG ColorServer is a workflow tool for automatic color conversions. The GMG SmartProfiler is made for profiling and calibration of different output devices, such as digital presses and large format systems. GMG InkOptimizer is aimed at automatically reducing chromatic colours by reducing unnecessary ink usage. GMG PrintControl is a software solution for standardizing the press. GMG also sells a range of proofing substrates for colour critical applications.
