Into packaging and labels with a bang

The new EIH plant in Manesar in what is described as its first phase, encompasses several industry segments: commercial printing, five distinct types of digital printing, labels and board packaging. We have written about some of the commercial and digital printing aspects in our first article called “EIH Press in Manesar” in the January 2009 issue of Indian Printer and Publisher. Here, Naresh Khanna writes about the label and packaging aspects of the new plant. (The EIH press is owned by the Oberoi Hotel Group).

Even in its earlier incarnation in Delhi, the EIH press did have equipment for packaging but what it has set up in Manesar for the labels and board packaging segment is again (as for commercial and digital printing) an unprecedented collection of technologies and equipment in a single plant. It catapults EIH into the top rung of packaging units in terms of modern integrated and end-to-end capabilities. However, it will take a bit of time for this capacity to be fully leveraged into profitability. ...cont´d
