We are making efforts to invite institutions from around the country as well as CEOs and HR managers and interested executives to this event. One of the premiere institutions, the Heidelberg Print Media Academy will also take part in human resource exhibition area and in the seminars and presentations. The head of the Heidelberg Print Media Academy, Rajendrakumar Anayath will take active part in the human resource seminar on the morning of 9 July in which leading companies such as Moser Baer are taking part. Company HR presentations and discussions will take place on 10 July. The Heidelberg PMA will also have a stand in the HR area throughout the show in case you would like to catch up with them and discuss their programs in Chennai.

With an open economy and both large Indian companies and multinationals bringing products to new formats in the Indian market, the competition is intense to find the right people for both creating and producing new types of packaging. Brand managers who understand packaging and who have the right management education and skills are also needed. Similarly, on the converting and manufacturing side, talented personnel are needed to take forward the new paradigms of management in which packaging is an integral part. The packaging industry needs the best young talent at the executive level and this does not necessarily or only mean people with engineering or technical qualifications.

On the morning of 9 July 2009, at Pack Plus, at the IppStar stand in Hall 11, the free of charge seminar led by HR thought leaders from both outside and inside our industry is aimed at executive level engagement. In the long term it is essential to bring together the 3i’s -- industry, institutes and individuals to focus on careers in packaging. HR managers and executives from packaging related companies are invited to speak and share their experiences and ideas about their requirements and eligibility criteria for recruitment and the selection process to ensure effective communication between interested candidates and companies. Please register early for the 9 July seminar as we have limited space.

IppStar’s one-day event on 10 July is for a few select companies to make presentations to qualified executive level candidates, and potentially take this further with preliminary meetings and interviews at an appropriate time and place at the show. Altogether IppStar will try to bring forward the real human resource issues in the industry, and we welcome the feedback and suggestions of our readers. We have already spoken with HR personnel, managers and CEOs in the packaging industry. Thus far the response from both prospective employees and senior professionals in the industry has been quite positive.

The career event is absolutely free of charge and if you would like to participate or make a ten-minute company presentation on 10 July to prospective employees, you must register before-hand for a time slot. Your early response will ensure that our effort in initiating the discussion on one of the major concerns of the industry is welcome and appreciated by professionals. Discussions aimed at strengthening human resources in the packaging industry will address employment issues such as manpower management, work-life balance, legal implications, recruitment, and training among other concerns. HR managers and qualified executive level personnel as well as students interested in a packaging related career may contact infostar@ippgroup.in or edit3@ippgroup.in .

So far everybody thinks that is a good idea but there is still a bit of the usual wait and watch attitude that keeps our industry bound to much talk, little action, and immune to the hot talent out there.
