Over the past couple of years we have met with several Pakistani packaging companies and have also spoken with them on the telephone. Kompass in Karachi is one such company and we recently spoke with Hasan Jalil, one of the directors of the company. Begun in 1985 by MA Jalil, Kompass started off in a modest 1800 square foot premises with the installation of a monolayer HDPE line from Taiwan to produce T-shirtbags and followed it soon after a 2-colour flexo press from Taiwan. In1990 the company’s operations were handed over to Umair Jalil, while Hasan Jalil joined the company in 1993. At that time a brand new 6-colour stack type press was added from Taiwan for confectionary packaging. ...cont´d
