Innovative packaging to reduce entry of fake drugs in the market

National seminar on innovations in packaging for food and pharmaceuticals

Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), Delhi had organised a national seminar on innovations in packaging and for food and pharmaceuticals on 29 April, 2011. The majority of the 185 participants were from various national and international pharma and food companies.

The seminar was inaugurated by Dr U Venkateswarlu, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India, while Dr K Bangarurajan, Deputy Drugs Controller of India chaired as guest of honour. Dr U Venkateswarlu in his message mentioned that the Ministry of Food Processing has created lot of opportunities in the food processing industry where innovative packaging would further enhance further opportunity and growth. Books on specifications on packaging for different processed foods written and published by IIP faculty members were released on this occasion. Dr K Bangarurajan mentioned that in a country like India innovative packaging can reduce the entry of fake drugs and pharma products in the market. The three different sessions at the seminar covered innovations in packaging from the perspective of the industry, packaging materials and packaging machines.
