On 26 July 2005, as everyone knows, there was a humungous cloudburst over India’s commercial capital, Mumbai. About 990 mm (39 inches) of rainfall was recorded over 24 hours. Neglected drainage and blocked waterways caused catastrophic flooding. Over a 1,000 people lost their lives. The Mumbai Municipality blamed the flooding, among other reasons for the littered plastic bags and waste material that clogged the city’s drainage. ...cont´d
