Packages Limited was established in 1957 as a joint venture between the Ali Group of Pakistan and Akerlund & Rausing of Sweden, to convert paper and paperboard into packaging for the consumer products industry. The Ali family had a long tradition of joint ventures even before Syed Babar Ali set up the packaging joint venture. Dr Ruben Rausing the founder of Akerlund & Rausing had also achieved worldwide fame as the inventor of a aseptic liquid packaging system, which led to the establishment of Tetra Pak in 1956. Packages grew steadily over theyears both in Pakistan and with joint ventures in other countries such as the project with the Print Care group in Sri Lanka. Packages also has benefited from several initiatives for specific industry inputs such as its joint venture to manufacture ink originally with with G-MAN, and currently, with the world’s largest ink manufacturer -- DIC. ...cont´d
