INDIAPACK 2010 was launched during a press meet on 19 March 2010 at New Delhi. This is the fourth Launch-cum-Press Meet in the series, starting from Mumbai, Guwahati and Chennai, respectively.

Sanjay Bhatia, Chairman, Indian Institute of Packaging and Managing Director, Hindustan Tin Works and Rexam HTW in his welcome address invited the stake holders of the packaging and food processing to be part of the event, while N C Saha, Director, Indian Institute of Packaging gave the present scenario of the packaging sector and also the importance of INDIAPACK as an important platform in development of the sector, Ashwani Pande, Managing Director, Koelnmesse YA Tradefair, mentioned about the booking status of the INDIAPACK and other concurrent exhibitions and also mentioned about the promotional strategies to attract more and more trade visitors. P K Dash, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India was the Chief Guest of the event and he encouraged IIP to muster as many SME’s from farthest areas of the country, so that they also get the exposure to the latest state-of-the-art technologies available in the food processing and packaging sector, as he strongly feels that “Food Processing and Packaging can do to rural India what IT has done for urban India”. PK Dash also pushed for smaller format events in more parts of the country as he pointed out that in Bastar people still stored food in Bamboo cans. Pradeep Tyle of Uflex was also present in the audience and was invited to speak. Pradeep Tyle said he was proud of the progress Indian packaging companies have made not only Uflex but Polyplex are now multi national companies. Subodh Gupta, Regional Chairman, Indian Institute of packaging – Delhi Region proposed the vote of thanks.
