Interview: Ole Rugland CEO Skanem Group
Skanem supports Interlabels’ profitable growth
Early this year Norway-based Skanem Group, one of Europe’s largest producers of self adhesive labels acquired 51% of the shares in Interlabels in Mumbai, a leading producer of self adhesive labels and label applicators in India. Here Avinandan Mukherjee of Packaging South Asia interviews Ole Rugland CEO Skanem Group.

PSA: Could you please elaborate on the background of Skanem’s entry in India through the acquisition of Interlabels?
Ole Rugland: The strategy of Skanem Group is to move into emerging markets. As part of this strategy India is seen as an attractive market with its consumer growth representing a market with great potential for Skanem. In order to take part in this growing market, a partnership with Interlabels gives Skanem access to this market as Interlabels already holds a strong position in the Indian labelling and applicator market. We believe the new partnership will be highly beneficial for both Interlabels and Skanem going forward and strengthen the Group’s overall vision and strategy.
