Viscosity of a liquid is its resistance to flow. High and low viscosity in printing inks affects the speed, colour, trapping, curing, and inks’ ability to attach to and detatch from the surface.Low viscosity inks flow freely on the printed area. Low viscosity can fill in the reserves and increases the size of dots and high viscosity can make the ink to block the reserves thereby increasing the ink consumption. Hence viscosity has to be measured and dilutions of inks should be controlled to avoid too high or too low viscous inks.
