According to the latest World Labels report published by the Freedonia Group in June 2007, the world label market is expected to grow at 5.5 per cent per annum to 42 billion square meters in 2011 from32.3 billion square meters in 2006. Drivers for growth will be expansion of packaged goods markets, especially the beverages, personal care products and pharmaceutical segments. Advanced logistics and data processing systems in the developing world and the development and penetration of technologically sophisticated value-added labels that serve a range of functions,
e.g. RFID and interactive packaging labels, authentication, tamper-evident and other security labels and expanded content booklet labels, will also contribute to growth.
